The Eastern Gate :

This gate faces towards beautiful Taj Nature Walk & Fatehabad Town. There is a domed tomb erected on an elevated platform near this gate. This Tomb was built in the memory of another wife of Shah Jahan called Sirhindi begum. Due to this, the gate is known as ‘Sirohi Darwaza.

The Western Gate

It is the main entrance to the Taj Mahal and this gate faces Green Shahjahan Garden, Agra cantonment, and Agra city. It is erected on a beautiful terrace.

The  Southern Gate : (Presently Closed for Entry)

The Gate is towards the south, Which faces the old Mumtazabad (Modern Taj Ganj). It is meant for pedestrians. On the right side of this gate is a Tomb of red stone which is surrounded by courtyards and crowded with a dome.

The Gate Way To The Taj Mahal :

This gateway is an octagonal entrance hall, surrounded by small rooms on both sides of the floors having beautifully ornamented gates on two sides, one opening towards the courtyard side and the other towards the Mausoleum itself.

These are the gates where the two gates commonly used to view the Taj mahal and the third one remain closed.

Note:- Taj Mahal opens all day except Fridays.

The opulent Agra Fort is made using red sandstone and marble and features the Mughal style of architecture. When viewed from above, the fort displays the shape of a semicircle and is enclosed by massive double battlemented walls made of red sandstone.

There are four gates to enter the fort which are located on four sides:-

Khizri Gate – It is not in use as of now. This opened to the river front, where ghats (quays) were provided. The Rehat (water wheel) used to draw Yamuna water inside the fort was located in the vicinity of the gate.

Amar Singh Gate– It is the main entrance gate of Agra Fort, originally known as ‘Akbar Darwaza’ and was the door that was reserved for the Mughal Emperor Akbar and his personal entourage. Shah Jehan renamed it after the victory of Rao Amar Singh in Jodhpur. The gate currently serves as a tourist entrance to the fort

Delhi Gate- Delhi Gate was built between 1568-69 to the western side of the fort and served as the principal gateway of the fort. Two beautiful and ornamented double-storeyed bastions that are octagonal in shape and are crowned by a chhatri protected this entrance.
